With degrees and diplomas in journalism, communication science, marketing and advertising, the Writers Write team has been in the professional writing business for many years. We have also conducted workshops/taught courses for various businesses and government institutions.

Amanda Patterson

Amanda Patterson is the founder of Writers Write. She has researched, developed, written, and taught more than 20 courses on writing. Her signature courses are Writers WriteThe Plain Language Programme, and The Complete Blogging & Social Media Course.
Amanda is also an author, a muse, a corporate facilitator, a plain language consultant, and a writing teacher. She has been nominated for many awards, including The South African Woman of the Year, and SA’s Most Influential Women in Business & Government. She still works with South African publishers to promote writers.

Mia Botha
Mia Botha is a creative writer by heart and a copywriter by trade. After winning the Mills&Boon Voice of Africa competition, she became a writing facilitator for Writers Write. She teaches creative writing to aspiring novelists and business writing with special emphasis on plain language to aspiring world leaders. She used to make ads, but now she writes business reports, style guides, books, brochures and sometimes even a blog. She is also a ghost writer, a manuscript appraiser and a book reviewer. Anthony Ehlers
Anthony Ehlers is an accomplished professional with more than 10 years’ experience in copywriting, magazine journalism, public relations and strategic communications.
Anthony has facilitated courses for Writers Write since 2007. Published both locally and internationally, he was twice a runner-up in the Mills&Boon Voice of Africa short story competition. In 2013, his crime short story was included in Bloody Satisfied, an anthology sponsored by the National Arts Festival SA. As a scriptwriter, he has written three television features. Monica Graaff
Monica Graaff is a multi-award-winning magazine journalist. She has worked in the newspaper and magazine publishing industry both in management and editorial positions. Monica was a lecturer to post graduate journalism students at the University of Stellenbosch.
As a marketer, she was a director of Conservation Corporation Africa, with award winning recognition. She has been a consultant to the City of Cape Town, helping it achieve a number of United Nations awards for exhibitions at major international events, and the Political Press Secretary to the Leader of Opposition, Colin Eglin, in the South African Parliament during the Apartheid era. She is a founding associate of Change Agent, a communications agency focussing on positive change.
Monica facilitates creative and business writing courses for Writers Write.
Qualifications: BA: African politics; B.Journalism Honours; MBA specialising in marketing; MPhil (cum laude) sustainable development communication.

Donna Radley 
Donna Radley is a creative writer who has been tinkering with words for years. She has written newsletters and online articles, translated a book, and edited a variety of documents into the wee hours. She also reviews books. She has owned her own training business and now facilitates The Plain Language Programme for Writers Write. She is currently working on her novel, which involves drinking lots of sweet tea.

Ulrike Hill
Ulrike is a ghost writer, writing consultant, manuscript appraiser and book reviewer. She is the author of Tackling the Brickwall, a non-fiction book about schoolboy rugby in South Africa. She co-authored a book with Debbie Calitz: 20 Months of Hostage Hell.
Ulrike’s 20 years’ experience include teaching English at high school level, and then working with companies such as Microsoft, Lotus, Bidvest and Nedbank in sales and marketing.
Ulrike Hill currently facilitates creative and business writing courses for Writers Write. Ulrike also lecturers English and Communication Science to first and second-year journalism students at Varsity College.
Qualifications: BA English, Communication and Sociology. H.Dip.Ed.
