Dear Writers Write Followers

This is the week when we ask you to help support and grow Writers Write. If everybody reading this gave $10, our fundraiser would be over in a few days. We are a small company that carries the costs of top website servers, staff, and programmes. We think Writers Write is special. It is a library for writers. Everything you need is on the site. If Writers Write is special to you too, please take a minute to donate to keep us online and growing. Thank you!

Day 28

Welcome to Day 28 of Hooked on Writing, your free online writing course. This online workbook will help you create a writing habit in 31 days.

Listen With Your Soul

Aim:

Show how powerful music can be as a tool to colour your writing.

How:

  1. Listen to a song that has meaning.
  2. Suggestions
  • Luca by Suzanne Vega,
  • Almaz by Randy Crawford,
  • Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton,
  • Vincent by Don MacLean,
  • I hope you dance by Leeann Womack
  • Better not tell them by Carly Simon
  • Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen
  1. Pick a character from your character box.
  2. Ask these questions?
  • Where does the character live?
  • How old are they?
  • What is their goal in life?
  • What do they eat for breakfast?
  • Who kisses them goodnight?
  1. Listen to the song again. Look at the character again. Use the words to help you answer these questions.

  2. Use dialogue.
