Dear Writers Write Followers

This is the week when we ask you to help support and grow Writers Write. If everybody reading this gave $10, our fundraiser would be over in a few days. We are a small company that carries the costs of top website servers, staff, and programmes. We think Writers Write is special. It is a library for writers. Everything you need is on the site. If Writers Write is special to you too, please take a minute to donate to keep us online and growing. Thank you!

Book Review – The Casual Vacancy

The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling (Little, Brown & Company) ISBN: 9780316228534

The Casual Vacancy demonstrates that Rowling’s story-telling ability manifests beyond fantasy and the Harry Potter series.

The casual vacancy is the seat that becomes available on the committee of a small parish municipality after the unexpected death of a councillor. The ensuing succession battle delves deep into the lives and motivations of characters vying for the post, and/or those affected by the councillor’s death. It’s a big plot in a small town.

This tragicomedy reveals prejudices and stereotypes to which we all inadvertently subscribe.
